Following the tradition of innovation
The Accela-Cota® Tablet Coating System
Since its creation, the Thomas Accela-Cota® system quickly set the pharmaceutical industry standard for tablet coating. It was brought to us by Eli Lilly in 1968, when that company licensed the patent to Thomas Engineering. Since then, we have become the worldwide provider of these systems. We were the first to offer this and many of the other features that have become industry standards. Thomas sets the pace for innovation and versatility in the tablet coating system field.
As a coating platform, the Accela-Cota Pro is capable of running many of the typical processes of today and will continue to support our clients’ operations into the future. As an organization, we have always remained flexible to the needs of our clients, and that adaptability goes into every system we offer. We are prepared to adjust to your needs and will work to fit into your requirements.
The Highest Quality Pharmaceutical Machinery
Thomas is dedicated to providing the highest quality machinery and systems for your operations. Every aspect of our systems has been optimized for the functions of your operations.
The shallow tablet bed creates fewer defects in a given batch of tablets. The larger spray area offers greater uniformity for the coating solution. We created more perforation area to provide higher allowable airflow, and the overall large plenum area delivers low air velocity throughout the bed. That low air velocity creates an environment with low turbulence, high spray efficiency, and low tablet bed pressure drop.
Thomas Engineering has been a leader in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 50 years, and we are not content to look back on our history and call it good enough. We are always reaching for higher quality and better performance. When you partner with us, you can feel confident that you’ve found an ally that will always be improving.
The Accela-Cota® Coating System
One of the most significant advantages of our systems like this is their cleanability. Making these systems and their parts easy to clean saves you time and increases your productivity. Cleanability also reduces the chance of cross-contamination in your various operations.
Thomas Engineering has worked alongside multiple multinational pharmaceutical companies to improve functions like this. They worked with us, giving us feedback on what features they liked and what was most useful.
That advice led us to developing and maintaining features like:
- All-rounded interior
- Easy access to the interior from the front and sides
- Full WIP with tankless skid and recipe control
- Ability to clean with the spray bar in place or removed
